Twinkles Class

In our Twinkles group, children aged 18 months through 3 years learn by absorbing impressions from the environment around them. Our classroom environment displays physical beauty and order, as well as provides the Montessori materials to encourage children to experience the world through touch. The materials in the toddler environment foster independence, eye/hand coordination, discrimination of the senses, oral language and motor skills.

The prepared multi-age toddler environment is charming and enriching to meet the needs of each child, but never overwhelming to the child. Everything in the environment is proportionate to the child’s size. The Toddler environment prepared by our certified Montessori teachers offers care, support and respect during this formative period for personality, trust, thinking, problem solving and separation. The atmosphere encourages the child towards independence and success while preparing them for experiences in our Little Stars programs.

Toddler Classroom Environment
Everything in the environment is the child’s size and is designed for exploration. There are several areas of our Twinkles class.

The Practical Life Area invites children to care for themselves and their environment, to manipulate materials and to experience independence and intrinsic motivation. The materials change as the children’s abilities and interests grow and change. To promote independence, each child is offered an opportunity to toilet each day.
The Sensorial Area develops consciousness of different attributes of objects. The child recognizes and responds to changes in sound, smell, touch, sight and taste.
In the Language Area each child is constantly exposed to oral language. They spend time here practicing their newly discovered language with many Montessori materials to further their growth.

The children are frequently exposed to work in Art, Music, and Movement, and participate in daily outdoor play.

Twinkles classes start at 8.30 am and children may be picked up between 12.30 pm to 1.00 pm. A mid morning snack is provided at 9.30 am and a hot lunch at 12.00 pm.
